The conservation of a painting is a delicate process that requires the expertise of a professional conservator.
This process begins with an in-depth analysis of the artwork, its materials, its damage, and their origin. This evaluation allows for the creation of an appropriate treatment plan. Once the artwork is fully understood and the treatments to be performed are determined, we proceed to a testing phase to choose the most appropriate materials.
At Atelier CROMA, we can provide you with a detailed report of these steps in addition to the estimate, to better understand your artwork, its needs, and the planned interventions. This report contain:
- a study of the materials constituting the artwork
- a study of the alterations to the artwork (in order to understand their origin)
- a report of the tests carried out and their results
- a clear and detailed treatment proposal
Once the analysis is complete, we move on to the treatment phase, where the artwork is restored according to the established plan. This plan may include various steps such as cleaning, repairing tears and other structural damage, reattaching flakes, creating fillers and retouching, applying a final varnish, and framing. We can also provide you with a treatment report explaining these different steps.
Do not hesitate to contact us or ask an estimate to discuss the conservation of your painting and obtain personalised advice.
